Top 12 Money-Saving Tips

01

Fly to Caticlan, not Kalibo

Direct Caticlan flights save 2.5 hours + PHP 300 van cost. The convenience is worth the slightly higher airfare.

02

Stay at Station 3

Rooms are 30–50% cheaper than Station 1 and 20–30% cheaper than Station 2. Same beach access.

03

Travel in June–September

Low season prices drop 30–50%. Book off-peak for maximum savings, especially if budget is a priority.

04

Eat at Talipapa Market

Fresh seafood + PHP 50/kg cooking fee = feast for 2 for PHP 500. The best meal-value on the island.

05

Buy from 7-Eleven

Beer at convenience stores: PHP 45. Same beer on the beach: PHP 150. Pre-drink to save 70%.

06

Negotiate tricycle fares

Never pay the first quoted price. Station 3 to Station 1 should be PHP 100–120, not PHP 200.

07

Book D'Mall tours

Island hopping at D'Mall: PHP 1,500. Same tour on the beach: PHP 2,200+. Save PHP 700+ per person.

08

Share island hopping tours

Join a shared boat (8–12 people) rather than chartering a private one. Up to 70% cheaper.

09

Walk the beach road

The beach path from Station 3 to Station 1 is 4km. Walk it instead of taking tricycles daily.

10

Rent, don't buy gear

Snorkel sets: PHP 150/day. GoPro: PHP 500/day. No need to bring or buy gear on the island.

11

Happy hour always exists

Most bars do 5–7 PM happy hour (2-for-1 or 50% off cocktails). Plan your sunset drinks strategically.

12

Book hotel direct

Email guesthouses directly with your dates. Ask for a "best direct rate." Usually 10–15% better than booking sites.
